Country Oven Bakery opened its Bowling Green facility in 1981, producing baked goods for Kroger stores with 175 employees. Since opening, it has become the largest supplier of baked goods to over 2,800 Kroger locations producing over 147 million pounds of baked products and employing over 650 people.

In 2010, the facility added 63,000 square feet to its 177,000-square-foot facility, with Lyons Company providing the design and construction of HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and process systems. This project involved adding a new spiral freezer, a unique refrigerated packaging hall, an ammonia machinery room, and plumbing systems for an industrial bakery.

Major systems included the ammonia refrigeration for the spiral freezer and process cooling. Plumbing included a process lift station with a wash down water heater. Flour and cooking oil conveyance piping were installed as well as a compressed air system. HVAC for ventilation of process and ancillary areas with pressure controls.
